Our club competitions and how to get involved

GC Draws on clubdays - explanation

Club Competition Entries

  • Enter by putting your name on the appropriate sheet posted on the clubhouse noticeboard.

  • Closing date 20 September for club handicap comps, Arthur Ross (AC), Don Reyland Stars (GC), and 21 September for Interclub (AC and GC).

  • Closing date 18 December for AC, Ricochet and GC championship competitions and Silver Badge (GC). All played between mid-January and 30 April 2027. Silver Badge entries close 18 Dec and must be completed by 7 January 2027.

  • Draws will be on the noticeboard soon thereafter.

HANDICAP games are played before Christmas.
CHAMPIONSHIP games are played after​ Christmas.

Organising Play

Association / Ricochet

Competition games may be played at the usual playing sessions but will be double-banked with normal play if necessary.

Golf Croquet

  • Competition games may be played during the third round of the usual playing sessions but will be double-banked with normal play if necessary.

  • If unable to play within these sessions, games need to be arranged during the week by negotiation with the groundsman during lawn maintenance days or twilight hours.

  • A 'finals' day is scheduled for Sunday 20 December for the Handicaps and Sunday 14 March for the Championship, when all games not previously completed will be played.

Club Competition Formats

AC - Advanced Handicap

  • Open Handicap Singles - all levels, round robin, 3 hours + Law 61.

  • Handicap Doubles - blind high/low draw for partners, 3 hours + Law 61, round robin.

AC - Championships

  • Championship Singles - round robin. 3 hours + Law 61.

  • Championship Doubles - 3 hours + Law 61, round robin - blind high/low drawn partners.

GC - Advanced Handicap

  • Both Singles and Doubles will be played using the Advantage system instead of extra turns. 13 hoops, no time limit.

  • Random round-robin draw of no more than 6 in a division.

GC - Championships - Levels

No extra strokes. Complete next hoop if even after Rule 19.1.3 applies - 2 strokes with each ball)

  • Singles played in grades, 19 point games, time limit 1 hour, plus Rule 19.1.3. Round robin (not more than 6 to a draw if practical) grades: 0-5, 6-8, 9-16.

  • Doubles played in divisions, 19 point games, time limit 1 hour, plus Rule 19.1.3. Round Robin. Partners selected by Club Captain within division. Senior (0-6), intermediate (7-10), Junior (11-16).

Ricochet

  • Handicap - Singles 3 hour + next hoop if even.

  • Championship - Open singles, round robin 3 hours + next hoop if even.
