The Castle Cup (AC)
Played between Waikanae and Plimmerton.
Around 1998 The Castle Cup was donated by Eric and Ursula Castle for an annual AC competition between the Waikanae and Plimmerton clubs. Eric Castle was the PCC President 1992-6; and was made a life member in 2001. His late wife Ursula Castle was the PCC Club Captain 1998-2000.
It was originally played in 2 legs: 1st leg, in February, in Plimmerton; 2nd leg, in April, in Waikanae.
From 2012-13 the competition was played on 1 day with the venue alternating between the clubs. Association croquet was played in all 4 grades. Each team consists of up to 8 players. Doubles in the morning, singles in the afternoon.
From 2024-25 the competition will be played on 1 day to include both AC and GC. Teams to consist of the following:

Cherrington Cup (GC)
Anne Cherrington, of Paraparaumu Club, donated this trophy to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Paraparaumu Club in the 2010-11 season.
It is played for annually between the Waikanae, Plimmerton and Paraparaumu Clubs - the venue is rotated between the Clubs. The host Captain arranges a date (preferably a Sunday morning) with the other Captains.
Each Club enters two doubles teams and each team plays all the teams from the other Clubs. Each team must have one player with handicap 7 or lower and one player with handicap 8 or higher. The names and handicaps to be submitted to the Host Club at least one week in advance.
All games are thirteen hoop Golf Croquet games with a 45 minute time limit.
The winning Club will be the Club with the most wins. If the number of wins are equal, then the team with the most hoops wins.
Usually played in April.
Ellis Speedball Cup
Played between: Waikanae, Plimmerton, Paraparaumu
The Ellis Cup was donated by Peter Ellis a business man on the Kapiti Coast. He was interested in promoting an event that was both fun and energetic – hence the speedball competition between the three Clubs.
"Speedball" is a limited form of croquet with a team of four playing against the clock.
Peter Ellis, who donated the Speedball Cup, is a remarkable athlete, now into his 70s. A harrier, cyclist, swimmer, triathlete and ironman - but, he says, "I've never played croquet in my life"!
While he was at the helm of Sport Kapiti he was involved in introducing young, and the not so young, to as many sports as possible. In 2002, on one of his rounds he visited the Paraparaumu Croquet Club where speedball was being played. He so enjoyed seeing a sport being played with fun and laughter he decided then and there to donate the "Ellis Speedball Cup". It's been contested ever since by Plimmerton, Paraparaumu and Waikanae teams.
"Everyone who plays a sport wants to win", says Peter Ellis. "As we get older we still want to win - and enjoy it more!"
Clubs may enter 1 or 2 teams of 4 players (they may be players from the Cherrington Trophy competition). Each team plays 3 rounds in sequence. No swapping of team members is permitted.
Usually played in April.
